Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 25, 2026
MicHunts LLC ("MicHunts", "we", "us") operates michunts.com, michunts.app, and the MicHunts mobile apps. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details – email address, password, and the name you choose to display.
- Open mic listings – if you list an open mic: venue name, address, schedule, signup details, contact email, and any social links you add.
- Spot requests – your name, email, and any note you send when requesting a slot at an open mic.
- Messages – anything you send us by email.
Information collected automatically
- Location – only if you grant permission, and only to sort and filter open mics by distance. Declining location does not block any feature; distance filtering is simply unavailable.
- Usage data – view and click counts on open mic listings, so hosts can see how their listing is performing.
- Tip data – if you leave a voluntary tip, we receive a record that it succeeded and the reference identifying where it came from. We never see or store your card number.
- Analytics – on michunts.com and in the browser version at michunts.app we use Google Analytics cookies to count visits and see which pages people read. You can block those with your browser's cookie settings.
- In-app analytics – the iPhone and Android apps do not load Google Analytics. Instead we record page views and a small set of product events, such as a search being run or a listing being opened, in our own database. It is aggregate traffic measurement, not tracking you personally.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We work with a small number of trusted service providers who process data only on our behalf, only for the purposes below, and who are not permitted to use it for their own:
- Hosting and database providers – storing your account and open mic listing data.
- Authentication providers – securely managing sign-in and passwords.
- Payment processors – handling voluntary tips. We never receive or store your card number.
- App store providers – Apple and Google process purchases made inside the iOS and Android apps under their own privacy policies.
- Mapping providers – rendering maps and looking up addresses.
- Email delivery providers – sending confirmations and spot-request notifications.
- Analytics providers – measuring how this website is used, in aggregate, so we know which pages are worth keeping.
We may also disclose information where required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
What is publicly visible
Open mic listings are public – that's the point of the service. If you list an open mic, the venue, schedule, and any contact or social links you add will be visible to anyone using MicHunts.
Your account email is not shown publicly. Your favorites and saved searches are private to you. Spot requests are visible only to you and to the host of the open mic you requested.
We send transactional email – account confirmations, spot-request notifications and listing changes. These are part of the service. If you'd rather not receive a particular type, contact us.
Your choices
- Access and correction – you can view and edit your account details in the app at any time.
- Deletion – you can delete your account from Settings, or email us and we'll do it. Deleting removes your account and listings.
- Location – revoke the permission in your device settings whenever you like.
Advertising
MicHunts does not show ads today. No advertising script loads on michunts.app or on this website, and the apps for iPhone and Android carry no ads at all.
Ads are planned for michunts.app only. When they begin they will be supplied by Google AdSense, and this section will say so in the present tense before the first ad appears. This website, michunts.com, is not planned to carry ads.
What Google would receive. To choose an ad, Google receives a visitor's IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser and device type, and the page being viewed. Google and its partners may set cookies or similar storage in a browser to limit how often the same ad is shown and to measure performance. We never send Google names, email addresses, account details or saved listings.
Where ads would appear. Public browsing pages only. Never while signing in, creating an account, requesting a spot, submitting or editing a listing, or in account settings. Never inside the iPhone or Android apps.
To opt out: manage or turn off personalised advertising at myadcenter.google.com, read how Google uses advertising data at policies.google.com/technologies/ads, block third-party cookies in your browser, or use the iPhone or Android app, which shows no ads at all.
Visitors in the European Union and United Kingdom: we do not serve you ads. No advertising script loads and no advertising cookie is set, so there is nothing to consent to.
Children
MicHunts is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Many open mics take place in bars and venues with age restrictions.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access controls that limit each account to its own information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously and fix problems when we find them.
Changes
We'll update this page when things change, and revise the date at the top. Significant changes will be communicated in the app or by email.
